Evan has nearly 25 years of experience in FinTech, Digital / Electronic payments, Consumer Lending and Consulting, working in the US, Europe,Middle East and Africa. More recently a strategy and financing advisor and investor focusing on eastern Europe and Middle-East & Africa technology startups. Evan previously held regional roles in Market Development, Consulting and Product at Visa Inc., and senior Marketing roles with financial institutions in the United States.
Evan has nearly 25 years of international experience growing emerging markets, entering new territories and running market development, strategy and client facing functions for F500US and multi-national corporations as well as SMEs. He has deep expertise in FinTech, Payments and Lending.
Evan currently works with financial and non-financial technology companies on strategy, financing/M&A and business optimisation; with banks and innovative payment solution providers on optimizing profitability; and with investment offices on payments-focused target due diligence.
As a senior leader at Visa Inc. for 14 years, starting at their California headquarters and then out of their London-UK, Moscow-Russia and Dubai-UAE offices, he led Regional Market Development for Central Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa; launched, managed and grew the Regional Visa CEMEA Consulting team advising key CEMEA clients; and set up the Regional Product Solutions hub team for CEMEA.
In San Francisco, CA, USA and within US banking and financial services, among others, he launched and managed a disruptive online lending platform at Chela Financial and used innovative risk models, acquisition and client management tools to grow profitable credit card portfolios of Thin File and Unbanked customers at Providian Financial.
He moved to California, USA from Greece, to earn his MBA in Strategy and Management of Technology at the Haas School of Business, University of California at Berkeley.
Just prior to completing his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Economics and Marketing at the American College of Greece, in Athens, he started his career as a consultant, focusing on international clients wishing to enter South-Eastern Europe markets.
