Christos is the Founder & Managing Partner of Iliad Partners. He is a venture capital investor, tech entrepreneur and digital executive with 20+ years of experience in technology, internet, digital media and e-commerce in the US, Europe and MENA, with a path from corporate to entrepreneur to angel investor turned VC investor.

Based in Dubai for the last 10 years, Christos founded Iliad Partners in 2014 after identifying an opportunity in the emerging tech and nascent venture capital space in the MENA region. At Iliad Partners, he manages dealflow and investor relations, and shares duties in executing investments and creating value for the investment portfolio.

Before Iliad, he was the Head of Business Development of Yahoo Maktoob where he built a new BD team and led strategic partnerships in MEA. At Yahoo, he closed 20+ strategic deals focused on expanding revenues, audience and content with media groups, internet companies, telcos, e-commerce players and government agencies. This included leading players such as MBG Group, Amazon and STC as well as promising startups such as UTURN, PropertyFinder and Souqalmal, which helped nurture the embryonic entrepreneurial ecosystem in the region. When he joined, Maktoob had recently been acquired by Yahoo in the largest (until recently) tech exit in MENA. The digital market was nascent, and working with the rest of the management team, he grew the company, managing the largest internet portal in MENA (55m unique users) and one of the leading players in Arabic digital media.

Before Yahoo, Christos was an Engagement Manager with Booz & Company (now Strategy&) in the firm’s Telecom, Media & Technology (TMT) practice. There he advised C-level and Board clients on 20+ corporate strategy, M&A, investment strategy and business development projects with telecom groups, ICT authorities, state-owned holding companies, investment groups and family groups in the Middle East, Africa and Asia.

Christos is an experienced tech entrepreneur with 4 exits. He was co-founder and seed investor of GlamBox.ME, a UAE e-commerce startup with $4M in Series A and Series B funding from MBC Ventures, STC Ventures and GCC private investors. GlamBox forged 200+ partnerships with top brands to become the leading beauty subscription service, expanded into the Saudi market, and was later acquired by a Saudi Group (exit in 2017). He was Co-Owner and Managing Director of SloanGear, an MIT company (exit in 2007) and earlier Commercial Director and a shareholder of Upstream, a Greek mobile advertising start-up that scaled globally to became a global leader in its space (exit via MBO in 2005). Earlier, he was employee #30 and business development associate at GovWorks.com, a New York internet startup with $60M in funding from KKR and Mayfield (acquired by First Data Corporation in 2001).

He is a startup angel investor and a member of multiple startup and incubator Boards, and an active contributor to the entrepreneurial ecosystem. He is on the Board of Advisors of MAGNiTT (“the Crunchbase / AngelList of MENA” which raised $1M led by 500 Startups) as a founding advisory board member, Eventtus, The Box, and Raw Coffee. At in5 Innovation Center, a Dubai tech accelerator, he serves on the Steering Committee where he co-decides startup selection. He is a mentor with the MIT Enterprise Forum - MITEF, Endeavor, Techstars and Flat6Labs, a judge at MENA’s top startup competitions (MITEF, Arabnet) and an ambassador of the MIT G-Lab Program.

During his MBA, he worked at The Carlyle Group in the firm's TMT Venture & Growth Capital team, focusing on early & growth stage investment opportunities in the mobile space. He started his career in consulting at Accenture in New York where he worked on operations and technology projects with Fortune 500 clients in the telecom industry.

Christos holds an MBA from MIT Sloan School of Management, where he was President of the MIT Venture Capital Club President, a Teaching Assistant in Organizational Behavior and was selected as a Kauffman Fellow, and a B.S. in International Relations from Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service.
