Fawaz is Senior Counsel at Taylor Wessing's Dubai office. He advises a wide range of fund managers on all aspects of structuring, formation and operations of private equity funds, venture capital funds, real estate fund and hedge funds.

He also assists institutional investors and family offices with their investments in these funds. His practice also includes co-investment structuring and advising fund managers on management corporate governance and carried-interest plan implementation.

 

Fawaz was previously the Founder and Counsel at Venture One Legal, a Cayman Islands boutique law firm and Counsel at Support Legal, a law firm based in the United Arab Emirates, where he led the Firm’s investment funds practice.

He has 25 years of experience in offshore corporate law and corporate finance, specializing in investment funds, in particular venture capital funds, private equity funds, real estate funds and hedge funds. He represents funds, and their sponsors, in connection with their formation and also represents institutional investors in such funds. 

Fawaz was formerly partner at Conyers Dill & Pearman and Head of their Dubai office where he advised on Cayman Islands, British Virgin Islands and Bermuda law matters, with extensive experience in dealing with companies and investors in the MENA region. Previously, he trained and qualified in Canada before gaining finance and corporate law experience with Clifford Chance in London and Public Sector Pension Investment Board (PSP Investments) in Montréal.
