Fethi is a Venture Partner at Iliad Partners. He is a senior finance and investments executive with over 24 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, venture capital and as CFO across Europe, Middle East and Africa.  For the past 20 years, he has been based in the UAE covering the wider MENA region.
 

With Iliad Partners, Fethi supports our portfolio companies develop their Finance function, working closely with the founding teams and the CFO, as well as on priority initiatives in corporate finance, equity and debt fund-raising, and M&A.

At Iliad Partners, Fethi previously co-led the pre-Series A/Series A investments in Trukker, the leading trucking aggregator in MENA, and the pre-Series A investment in OSeven Telematics, a leading European telematics/insurtech business.

Fethi is the former Group Chief Financial & Investment Officer of International Media Investments (IMI), the Abu Dhabi based media investment holding company that owns 50% of Sky News Arabia (jointly with Sky UK), The National newspaper in the UAE and other Arabic/French/English digital news platforms in MENA and the US, as well as a minority stake in Euronews.

Previously, Fethi ran his own corporate and financial advisory business, FSK Advisors, where he was engaged in M&A advisory assignments, restructuring advisory mandates and capital raising for US private equity and venture capital funds as well and tech startups. Fethi was also an Advisory Board Member of an Abu Dhabi based private office, primarily focused on the real estate sector.

Prior to this, Fethi was Group CFO and Chief Business Development Officer of MOBY Group, a 21st Century Fox affiliated media company with over 1,100 employees in 8 countries in South/Central Asia, Middle East and Africa where he was responsible for investments in new and existing media and technology companies in emerging markets.

Before MOBY Group, Fethi’s career was in investment banking at institutions such as Deutsche Bank and Barclays Capital in Dubai where he was responsible for providing financial advisory services as well as raising debt, equity and project financings and capital raisings for sovereign wealth funds, large corporates, and family offices. He also co-founded Blue Gate Capital Partners, a frontier market focused private equity and financial advisory firm.

Fethi moved to the UAE in 2002 to help establish Estithmaar Ventures, a US$100 million TMT focused private equity fund, a JV between Deutsche Bank and The Investment Office, the investment arm of The Executive Office of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, then Crown Prince, now Ruler of Dubai.

Fethi began his career in London at Bankers Trust/Deutsche Bank where he was in the investment banking team providing financial advisory (M&A and capital raising) to European clients.

A dual British/Swiss national of Iraqi origin, Fethi holds a BSc in International Economics from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service and speaks Arabic, English, French and Turkish.
