Based in Riyadh, Omar is a Partner with Iliad Partners. He has 16+ years of experience in investments and C-level operating roles as well as in management consulting and government in Saudi Arabia.
Omar is the Senior Managing Director and a Board Member of Abdul Latif Jameel (ALJ) Investments, where he leads ALJ’s diversification efforts, building and investing in businesses that support the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s economy. He is also on the Boards of Directors of ALJ Transportation Company and Awad Capital, and the Advisory Board of Four Principles (ALJ).
Omar joined ALJ’s leadership team after three years with Volkswagen Group as the Founding CEO of Volkswagen Group KSA. Previously, He was an executive team member of the Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA), an Associate at McKinsey & Company in Dubai, and had worked in multiple positions within Saudi Aramco including participating in developing the company’s long-term strategy in the technology area.
He was appointed by Royal Decree to the Board of the Saudi Job Creation & Employment Commission.
Omar was named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum, Class of 2017. He was a member of the Board of Directors of Endeavor Saudi Arabia and is an Eisenhower Fellow selected as the Fellow from Saudi Arabia for Eisenhower Fellowships’ 2011 Multi Nation Program. As an Eisenhower Fellow, Omar was selected as a Ward Wheelock Distinguished Middle East Fellow.
He holds a BSE in Chemical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management, where he was a Martin Trust Fellow, and speaks English, Arabic and Greek.
