Shari is a Senior Lecturer in Technological Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Strategic Management at the MIT Sloan School of Management, and an experienced entrepreneur and angel investor in emerging markets.
Shari teaches venture capital & entrepreneurship as a Senior Lecturer at MIT where she has been a member of the faculty at the MIT Sloan School of Management for the last 19 years, and a faculty member of the MIT Regional Entrepreneurship Acceleration Program. She is an experienced entrepreneur and angel investor in established and emerging markets, works closely with many entrepreneurs, and loves to support her students at MIT and around the world.
She has particular experience in emerging market VC fund formation, entrepreneurship in emerging economies, and the evolving issues and standards of corporate governance in the United States and abroad.
Shari spent five years in Moscow as a founding member of Brunswick (now UBS Russia), a financial services firm in the Russian equity market. In the United States, she founded and runs Big World, a strategy firm focused on new ventures in new markets, and she also co-founded Zeta Networks, an optical networking firm built on technology developed at MIT.
She has served on public and private company boards, non-profit boards, investment committees and advisory boards in the US and internationally, including Accion’s Frontier Fund, Parkhead Group (Vietnam), Angel Ventures VC (Latin America), National Financial Partners (NYSE: NFP), Iliad Partners (MENA), and Retroficiency. She has chaired the Board of Overseers of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the board of directors of the International Institute of New England.
Shari holds an AB from Georgetown University and a JD from the University of Texas.
